ABOUT
The history of collecting
is the history of preservation—
of ideas, of instincts, of time.
To collect is to shape
a personal narrative within a larger
cultural one.
It’s not about possession, but participation.
Not accumulation, but authorship.
Today’s art world moves fast.
Visibility often stands in for value.
But real collecting is slower.
It’s built on attention, trust, and taste.
At its best, it’s a conversation:
between artist and viewer, instinct and inquiry,
private sensibility and public moment.
Ryba Art Advisory was founded
to preserve that space.
We are a full-service advisory firm
working with new and established collectors
to build meaningful collections
that hold weight—
collections that are intellectually grounded and
emotionally charged.
Our approach is intuitive and informed.
It’s shaped by deep research, close relationships,
and a belief that even within an ever-changing market, there is room for clarity, conviction and
for something that endures.

PEOPLE
Rebecca
Ryba
Principal & Art Advisor
Rebecca Ryba is an art advisor based in New York, specializing in modern and contemporary art. An Australian native, she founded Ryba Art Advisory in 2020 and maintains an office in Sydney.
Ryba holds an MA in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art with distinction and a BFA with honors from the College of Fine Arts in Sydney. While completing her MA, she worked at Christie’s. From 2011 to 2016, she worked as a curatorial assistant to Neville Wakefield, before joining a prominent New York advisory firm from 2017 to 2020.
This combination of curatorial and art-advisory experience has shaped how Ryba moves through the art world and builds collections. She treats collecting as a deeply personal activity, working with clients to define a clear philosophy that reflects their values, intellectual curiosities, and long-term vision. Each collection becomes an ongoing curatorial project that challenges and intellectually satisfies her clients according to their evolving taste.
Ryba has facilitated major museum donations to the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Whitney Museum, LACMA, the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, and ICA Miami. She has built collections with foresight, identifying works by important artists before wider market recognition—including early acquisitions of work by the late Matthew Wong.
She is an Honorary Patron of the Art Gallery of New South Wales and serves on the Board of Trustees for Eight House Residency, an artist residency in Vermont.
Above all, Ryba is driven by a deep passion for art and an intimate understanding of the market that sustains it.
